The Incline Railway of Mount Beacon fascinated generations of Hudson Valley residents and visitors. An estimated 3.5 million rode the funicular up and down the side of the mountain from its opening in 1902 till 1978 when it ceased operations. Now through the concentrated efforts of the Mount Beacon Incline Railway Restoration Society, the rails will be restored and a Visitors’ Center built with modern technology and green, sustainable concepts utilized. Frank DiLorenzo and James Diana will present The Incline Railway of Mount Beacon ~ past, present, and future. This lecture presentation is free and open to the public.
