The Hall of Honor will commemorate Purple Heart Appreciation Day with two part program. The first part of the program will be a presentation about the Battle of Guadalcanal. It was 75 years ago that the U.S. stopped Japanese expansion in the Pacific and dispelled the myth of the invincibility of the Japanese soldier. The second part of the program will be recognition of our Purple Heart recipients and all of our veterans. For this part of the program the audience is encourage to sing along with our musical tribute to all five branches of military service. Purple Heart Appreciation day commemorates the orders establishing the Badge of Military Merit, the inspiration for the modern Purple Heart. The event will be held outdoors under a tent, and will take place rain or shine.
