Between the Ponds
The Town of Monroe Historical Society’s annual walking tour of the Village of Monroe will be held on June 8th at 10:00 AM, with a rain date on June 9th at 1:00 PM. Learn the early history of Monroe as we walk down Lake Street and Stage Road. Also incuded will be an escorted tour of McGarrah’s Stage Coach Inn. The tour will begin on the Lake Street bridge between the ponds. Reservations are not required and the tour is free to the public.
Also at 11:30 AM on June 8th a historical marker will be unveiled in front of the Presbyterian Manse, (286 Stage Road. The marker will honor the Monroe Village Historic District which was listed in 1998 on the National Register of Historic Places.The unveiling will be held rain or shine. The marker was proivided by a grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.
