Finding the Lost Dutchman: Challenges faced by Maritime College history students in tracking down the Hudson Valley’s lost artifacts. In 1909, the Kingdom of the Netherlands presented the United States with a replica of Henry Hudson’s Half Moon in order to commemorate the 300th anniversary of his voyage to North America. The vessel participated in many events in New York Harbor before being transferred to the PIPC. She then spent many years moored in the Popolopen Creek before ending her career ignobly in a park in Cohoes, NY. Come hear SUNY Maritime College professor David Allen tell the tale of this historic ship and his students’ quest to discover the true story of her and other Hudson River Valley relics. Please call for reservations.
