MONTGOMERY, NY, 2022- The 7th Annual Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival (HVPAF) is scheduled for October 10th to 15th, 2022. Sponsored by The Wallkill River School (WRS), soon to be Wallkill River Center for the Arts in Montgomery, NY, the event attracts artists from across the United States to the outdoor, week-long plein air painting festival. Keep watch for artists standing along scenic roadways or over-looks painting the beautiful fall vistas before them! Stop and chat with the artists and learn all about the challenges and pleasures of plein air painting. The breathtaking scenery of the Hudson Valley has been a joy for plein air artists and art collectors, dating back centuries. HVPAF is committed to the community’s participation in this event and has introduced a line-up of events for adults and children alike.
The festival’s reception – free to the public – kicks off at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th at the Wallkill River School. The reception begins with a painting demonstration by award-winning artist and event juror, Joseph Sundwall. Following the one-hour demonstration, Sundwall will award prizes to the artists with the best plein air paintings completed during the festival week. In addition, the gallery will be open for viewing and sale of the paintings until 5 p.m.. Exhibition and sale of the festival paintings will continue on Sunday, October 16th through Sunday, November 6th, 2022. The Gallery is open 12-5 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
