Sterling Forest State Park – Ranger Adventures
Join our Rangers for a challenging 6-mile hike up Schunnemunk Mountain, the tallest peak in Orange County. The climb to the 1660-foot summit will take about 1.5 hours, but you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Hudson River and surrounding areas. This is an extremely strenuous hike, not suited for first time hikers or people with limited hiking experience. The hike will meet at the Otterkill Rd parking area at 9am. We will complete a loop along the Trestle, Barton Swamp, Jessup, and Otterkill trails. This is a group hike: our pace is the slowest hiker; we leave as a group and come back as a group. Please wear appropriate attire (hiking boots, backpack) and don’t forget your lunch and plenty of water.
Registration is mandatory, please call (845) 351-5907.
Due to COVID restrictions, this hike is limited to 15 participants.
Masks are required if social distancing is not possible.
