Santa and Mrs. Claus will be landing by helicopter ( Weather permitting) into Smith Clove Park in Monroe.
The Mombasha Fire Department has approved the use of their 1925 restored Fire Truck to escort Santa and Mrs. Claus to Rest Haven. Historically, from 1925 until the mid 1950s, this particular truck was commissioned and charged with protecting Rest Haven in case of any emergencies.
At about 10:55 am, Santa will leave Smith Clove Park. He will travel through the village to Rest Haven.
At Rest Haven you will be greeted by a string quartet playing holiday songs (Foyer). To your left you will be greeted by the Make-A-Wish foundation and Mrs. Claus where each child can write a letter to Santa.(Dining Room)Then you will see our beautiful Christmas tree and fireplace.(Parlor) The home has 9 fireplaces. As you walk further back, the children enter a room where they can meet with Santa and get a gift.(Billiard room)
Rest Haven was closed in 1968. Formerly owned by the American Foundation for the Blind. Rest Haven was the vacation home for blind women which was established in 1923 by Monroe resident Moses Migel, who was the first President of the American Foundation for the Blind.
This event is free and open to the public. Hours are 10:30 am until 11 am at Smith Clove Park. From 11 am until 4 pm at Rest Haven
