Orange County, N.Y. Offers Enough Golf Courses To Meet Any Golfer’s Desires to a Tee

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (April 29, 2022) – With spring in full bloom, Orange County, N.Y. is the ideal spot to take to the green. Golf courses around the county offer opportunities to hit the links in settings from wooded seclusion to country club elegance, with designs by noted architect A.W. Tillinghast, links legend Jack Nicklaus and others.

Here are just some of the courses in the county:

Hickory Hill Golf Course, 156 Route 17A, Warwick: Play this county-owned 18-hole course in Warwick County Park. The 6,400-yard, par 72 course includes a pro shop, driving range and dining and banquet facilities. Lessons are available. READ MORE

Stony Ford, 211 Route 416, Montgomery: This county-owned, 18-hole course in Thomas Bull Memorial Park is open dawn to dusk from March to November. The par 72 course features a pro shop and driving range. Lessons are available. READ MORE

Lynx at Riverbend Golf Club, 87 Neversink Drive, Port Jervis: Built in 1915, this is one of the oldest golf courses in the country. It was designed by prominent golf architect A.W. Tillinghast, covering 125 acres with the majestic Shawangunk Mountains as a backdrop. Meet the friendly staff in the course’s pro shop. READ MORE

 

Mansion Ridge Golf Course, 1292 Orange Turnpike, Monroe: The only public Jack Nicklaus-designed course in New York State, the course was carved out of rolling hills of a historic 220-acre estate. Located at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains in the Hudson Valley highlands, the estate features landmark buildings predating the American Revolution. Town of Wallkill Golf Course, 40 Sands Road, Middletown: Enjoy a peaceful round of golf at a course meandering among lagoons and rolling terrain framed by trees, creating a sense of total isolation at each hole. Opened in 1991, the course was designed by esteemed landscape architect Steve Esposito, who aimed to create a New England-style course. The course includes a driving range. Lessons are available. Osiris Country Club, 110 County Club Road, Walden: A players’ club, Osiris has provided a challenging and congenial atmosphere for its members for more than 90 years. The club is in a beautiful setting, nestled against the Catskill Mountains. The clubhouse features a wedding and event venue, fully appointed players’ locker rooms and three golf simulators.
