Weekday reservations accepted by appointment. Get into the holiday spirit with free hot chocolate and candy canes, plus enjoy a big barn where you can warm yourself by the fireplace. Tackle cutting down the tree yourself (saw provided) or ask the staff to cut your tree for you.
Airfield Farms, 64 Holmes Road, Newburgh, N.Y.: Families who put up their trees early can choose a pre-cut conifer here beginning Black Friday, Nov. 24. In 2018, the farm planted 1,000 saplings to grow into trees that families can cut themselves. While those still growing, families can visit the farm for a beautiful selection of available trees already cut, as well as wreaths and holiday décor.
Emmerich Tree Farm, 101 Sleepy Valley Road, Warwick, N.Y.: Search for your perfect Christmas tree on a farm so beautiful it is also a popular wedding venue. Choose from more than a dozen varieties of spruce, fir and pine. Check the website for an up-to-date inventory of trees. The farm also offers a wreath-making class. Reservations required for both tree cutting and wreath making.
Pierson’s Farm, 1448 Route 211, Middletown, N.Y.: Choose a fresh-cut or a U-Cut Christmas tree, accessories, and decorations, as well as wreaths, kissing balls and more. U-Cut trees require a reservation in advance. For other warm seasonal touches, take a class in making wreaths or centerpieces. Enjoy hot cocoa and more. Pierson’s opens Nov. 24 and is open daily except Tuesdays. Call ahead to schedule a photo session.
Wright Family Farm, 329 Kings Highway, Warwick, N.Y.: Fresh-cut trees at the farm range from tabletop size to about 12 feet tall.
